Mini Mansions Merge Biggest Inspirations Sigmund Freud and Gary Numan on New Song “Bad Things (That Make You Feel Good)”

Los Angeles indie pop band, Mini Mansions have released “Bad Things (That Make You Feel Good” as the fourth song on pre-release from their upcoming album, Guy Walks into a Bar…, which is slated to come out on June 26. Mini Mansions has only released two other albums: The Great Pretenders in 2015 and Mini Mansions in 2010. Prior to the release of their new album, Mini Mansions begins their tour in the U.K. tonight and will continue in the U.S. beginning May 30.

“Bad Things (That Make You Feel Good)” exhibits a love for hedonism, detailing the fire of meeting someone and the line “I wanna do bad things that make you feel good.” Mini Mansions lead singer Michael Shuman explains that both his personal and lyrical philosophy is based on the sybartism displayed in the song. In an interview about the track Shuman stated: “Sometimes in life we forget to be ourselves and really let loose. I live my life inspired by two people: Sigmund Freud and Gary Numan. Both adopting the grand idea of the ‘Pleasure Principle’. Our new track “Bad Things (That Make You Feel Good)” is the musical and lyrical marriage of the two greats.” Freud’s “Pleasure Principle” is the fundamental idea that humans seek pleasure through basic and primitive urges; English singer, Gary Numan, released an album by the same name in a tribute to the famed psychologist.

“Bad Things (That Make You Feel Good)”  is an upbeat track in comparison with the mellow melodies of the rest of the album so far and shows the true range of the band. It’s a must-listen and will make you fall in love with the Mini Mansions and book tickets ASAP.
