Calexico and Iron & Wine Share New Video For “Midnight Sun” From Upcoming Collaborative Album

The groups Calexico and Iron & Wine have released the second single to their upcoming collaborative project, a song titled “Midnight Sun.” The track comes out alongside a small animated video, similar to the one put out when they released the first track from the upcoming project, “Father Mountain.” Now that two singles have been released from the album, which will be titled Years To Burn, fans can get a much clearer look into how the album will sound as a whole. The artists are looking to combine the folk influences of Calexico with the indie rock sound pushed by Sam Beam.

Sam Beam is the artist behind the Iron & Wine name, performing under the pseudonym for nearly two decades. Known for his intimate songwriting style and calming music, Beam has created an incredibly strong discography over his career. Iron & Wine is known for hits such as “Naked as We Came” and “Flightless Bird, American Mouth.” Now, wishing to branch off into some new music, Beam has collaborated with the duo Calexico in order to expand his musical horizons.

Calexico is a folk rock duo from Arizona that has been making music together for over 20 years. Founded by Joey Burns and John Convertino, the duo has dedicated their careers to creating beautiful music inspired by classic Americana. Some of the duo’s biggest songs over the years include “Alone Again Or” and “Goin’ To Acapulco.” This is also not the first time Burns and Convertino have teamed up with Beam, with the three creating an EP together in the early 2000s. The project, titled In The Reins, was released back in 2005 and showed just how powerful these artists can be when they work together. Any fans of that album should be incredibly excited by the prospect of new collaborative music between Calexico and Iron & Wine.
