Spinal Tap Members Reunites for The First Time in 10 Years to Perform Together

A decade after their last performance together, parody rock band The Spinal Tap reunites to perform at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival for the 35th anniversary of the mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, Consequence of Sound reports. The rousing performance brought out surprise guest Elvis Costello at New York’s Beacon Theatre.

Characters in rockumentary, David St. Hubbins (played by Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (played by Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (played Harry Shearer), as the band Spinal Tap gathered on the stage after the film and Q&A section. Memory of the band was lived up immediately, as fans rejoiced with enthusiastic applause and joyful shout.

This Is Spinal Tap released a soundtrack album of the same name, the actors in the film have portrayed the band members at concerts and released music under the Spinal Tap name. Bassist Harry Shearer announced his debuted album Small Changes (Meditations Upon Ageing) last year, who also shared music video of “MRI” for his solo album.

Spinal Tap hit an amusing live performance with acoustic guitars. Loudwire lists the setlist, including “Celtic Blues”, “Hell Hole”, “Rainy Day Sun”, “(Listen To The) Flower People”, “Clam Caravan” and “Big Bottom”. Before performing the last song “Sex Farm”, Elvis Costello surprised the crowd and joined the group for “Gimme Some Money”. Check out the footage video of the live performance below.
