After two long years, BANKS’ fan finally received the follow-up to 2017’s “Underdog” today. Her dark new single “Gimme” debuted exclusively on Zane Lowe’s World Record on Apple Music’s Beats 1 this morning.
Co-written with Buddy Ross and co-produced by Hudson Mohawke and BJ Burton, “Gimme” has slower rhythm in line with BANKS’ hypnotic aesthetics and dark R&B style. The new single sounds brooding by her lower voice while the sorter beats and breathier vocals convert powerful and strong energy, which enriches the flavor of the song. It’s darker and more atmospheric works with a “no apologies” attitude by singing the lyrics “Gimme, gimme, what I want, what I deserve, Gimme, gimme it.”
“Gimme” will be a new chapter in BANKS’ words: “‘Gimme’ is a song about getting what you want. It’s about knowing what you deserve, saying it out loud, and demanding it with no apologies. I’m ready to release this into the world and begin a new chapter.”
BANKS released of her breakout debut album, Goddess, in 2013 and most recent album, The Altar, in 2016. “Gimme” prepares for the release of her upcoming third studio album. Stream BANKS’ new single “Gimme” below.
