Heavy metal band Lamb of God has annnounced that they are “well into” the writing process for a new album. The band originally known as Burn the Priest has released eight studio albums, two of which were recorded as Burn the Priest, while the rest were produced as Lamb of God. The band’s last album, Legion: XX, is a cover album that was released in 2018 under their original name. Legion: XX featured renditions of songs such as “Inherit the Earth” by The Accüsed and “Kill Yourself” by Stormtroopers of Death. Their last original album, VII: Sturm and Drang, came out in 2015. Lamb of God has experienced a spectrum of fame from being a five-time Grammy nominee for Best Metal Performance to the arrest of lead vocalist Randy Blythe for manslaughter.
Lamb of God is currently involved in many side projects, such as Randy Blythe’s new band, featuring members of Sworn Enemy and Animals and Leaders, as well as the band’s 15th anniversary edition of Ashes of the Wake to be released in May. Lamb of God also plans to go on tour in North America opening for Slayer in May. Following this tour, the band is set to headline festivals in Europe, such as the Copenhell festival in Denmark and the Download Festival in Great Britain.
In regard to Lamb of God’s new album, guitarist Mark Morton spoke to Metal Insider, detailing the process: “We’ve got a bunch of new material we’ve been working on….We’ve been making demos and what we call pre-production for the new album….I don’t know if it’ll be the end of this year or sometime early next year, but it’s in full swing.” However, in an interview with drummer Chris Adler for Metal Injection Livecast, Adler asserted that the band’s new album should be out for Christmas 2019. Regardless of the release date, the band agrees that they have made “good progress” on the album and will hopefully be debuting some of their new songs during their tour dates this summer.
