Last night, the first night of Pharrell’s new festival, Something in the Water, was cancelled due to inclement weather. The festival, set in Pharrell’s hometown of Virginia Beach, was meant to showcase big name artists and give local artists a platform to perform and network. Something in the Water was originally set to take place over the weekend from April 26-28, but severe winds and a thunderstorm warning have delayed the start of the festival. One could say that “Something in the Water” was the festival itself.

Those attending the festival were told to be on standby yesterday, as they received updates via Twitter from Pharrell and Something in the Water. Pharrell tweeted: “Due to the impact caused by today’s severe weather at the beach venue, we are sorry to announce that we are unable to put on a show tonight. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! ☀️”

Friday’s lineup was meant to inclue artists such as Pharrell & Friends, Diplo, Migos, and Lil Uzi Vert. According to the festival’s website, they will be refunding part of the ticket prices, but with the weather steadily improving, the rest of the festival should continue as planned. The next two days have headliners including Pusha-T, Missy Elliot, and SZA scheduled to perform.
