Ride has announced their new album This is Not a Safe Place will be released August 16th via Wichita. The band has also released the first single from the record, titled “Future Love.” Band member andy Bell described the song as “a song about the beginning of a relationship, when everything feels possible”. Take a listen to the track below. The album features 12 tracks and production by Erol Alkan and mixer Alan Moulder, who both also worked on the band’s last effort, Weather Diaries in 2017, their first album in 21 years. See the tracklist and album artwork for the new album below. Following Weather Diaries, the band released their four-track EP Tomorrow’s Shore early last year.
The band also has some European dates lined up for the summer overseas including stops in Brazil, Chile, and Ireland before concluding in Greece July 17. Check out the group’s itinerary below. In a press release, it was stated that the band’s album was influenced by “the Jean Michel Basquiat exhibition at London’s Barbican Centre and the post-punk sound of The Fall and Sonic Youth, for an album rich in their trademark shoegaze atmosphere, whilst simultaneously sounding rejuvenated and creatively ambitious.”
