Tangerine Dream Announces 7-Album Box Set In Search of Hades Featuring Work from 1973-1979 for June 2019 Release

Tangerine Dream has announced the release of 7-album Box Set, In Search of Hades, which features their work from 1973-1979, to be available in June. The albums included in the set are Phaedra(1974), Rubycon (1975), Ricochet (1975), Stratosfear (1976), Encore(1977), Cyclone (1978), and Force Majeure (1979). These albums include the German band’s eclectic mixture of new age electronic music from the psychadelic “Phaedra” to the synth trip of “Cherokee Lane.”

Over the past 40 years, Tangerine Dream has released over 100 albums of instrumental surreal music that feels straight out of “Stranger Things.” The prolific band has cemented themselves as perhaps the most important and influential group of the new age music movement, inspiring artists such as Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence. In one particular interview with MXDWN, Urine said of his his style, “I’ll make it all analog synth like fucking Vangelis and Tangerine Dream came into the music and then I came and sang in falsetto like Kate Bush over it.”

Tangerine Dream has decided to release In Search of Hades both as a testament to the greatest albums of their career and to honor their founding member, Edgar Froese, who passed in 2015.

The box set includes:

8 CDs of formerly published Tangerine Dream music and audio

8 CDs & 2 Blu-Rays of previously unreleased audio and video content

68-page Hard-back book containing new essay and unseen photographs

Sleeve notes by Wouter Bessels, with contributions by Steven Wilson, with quotes from Edgar Froese and Steve Joliffe
