Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers Unleashes “Wayne’s World” Inspired Video for “I Hate Chicago”

Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers, the iconic group just released a new video for their song “I Hate Chicago” from their album Bought to Rot. Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers include Laura Jane Grace, Atom Willard, and Marc Jacob Hudson. NPR, Rolling Stones, Billboard and The New York Times have all given Bought to Rot thrilling reviews. The Associated Press stated, “Grace goes on a thrilling sonic side road. There’s electricity in every song and an abrasive unpredictability throughout. You can’t ask for more”. The new video was directed by Hannah Walter and features Abby Pierce and Christine Vrem-Ydstie. The new video is a twist on the hilarious film Wayne’s World turning Wayne’s World into “Jane’s World”. The video has so much personality combined with humor that really makes the song come to life. The song and video explore Grace’s hometown, Chicago and her relationship with the city itself. The video references Lollapalooza, the Cubs, and WXRT 93 FM.

The album, Bought to Rot was written in multiple hotel rooms and at Grace’s home in Chicago. Grace described her album to Rolling Stone, “My approach musically to the record was that I wanted it to feel like a mixtape”. It’s an album of fourteen songs that inspired by the happiness in her life. The group, Laura Jane Grace & The Devouring Mothers are currently finishing a North America tour with Mercy Union and Control Top. The tour will finish this month on April 28th in Nashville, TN. Laura Jane Grace and The Devouring Mothers will also make an appearance at the Loveloud Music Festival on June 29th in Utah. The festival will include other artists like Teagan and Sara, Grouplove and DAYA.
