Hollywood Vampires Announces New Album Rise for June 2019 Release

The Hollywood Vampires have stepped out into the night and announced their forthcoming second, studio album Rise will be released in the early days of summer, on June 21st through the earMUSIC label. To up the ante of the release, the band announced their lead single “Who’s Laughing Now” is now available on all platforms, accord to Ultimate Classic Rock.

The rock supergroup consisting of singer-songwriter Alice Cooper, actor/musician Johnny Depp and guitarist Joe Perry of Aerosmith will reconvene to give their fans new content. The new record will feature new, original material from the band, as well as, covers of songs from David Bowie, Johnny Thunders and the Jim Carroll Band.

Their lead single, “Who’s Laughing Now,” continues to exemplify the well-known image of The Hollywood Vampires, from their raw attitude to their rowdy live shows across the world. This track has a strong grip on capturing the listener’s attention through the vocals of Cooper and Depp.

Taking a step forward from their self-titled, debut album, this upcoming album focuses primarily on new, original content from the band, rather than being bombarded by cover after cover song. Produced by Tommy Henrikson and the band, each member of the band gets to take the lead vocals on the three cover songs introduced throughout the record. Cooper will take lead on Jim Carroll Band “People Who Died,” Depp on David Bowie’s “Heroes” and Beck on John Waters’ track “Welcome to Bushwackers.

Rise is not only a totally different animal than the first Vampires album, it is unique to anything I’ve ever been a part of,” said Cooper when speaking about the upcoming project. “I approached it very differently than I usually do when working on an album. Each of us; Joe, Johnny, Tommy, and myself have written songs on this album. What is different though is that I didn’t try to change any songs to be more ‘Alice-like.’ Because each of us has different influences, the sound of this album is very cool. I think that with this album, we are establishing what the Vampires’ sound really is, whereas with the first album, we were more tipping our hats to our fallen rock ‘n’ roll brothers.”

Members of the band have also been keeping up with their own person, projects and being in the spotlight for different reasons. Cooper reached the entire audience of his fanbase when he announced his summer, co-headlining tour with Halestorm. On the other hand, Depp and Amber Heard, his ex-wife, have been battling out their issues after Heard made allegations of domestic abuse.

Last month, the band announced they would be embarking on a short tour in May, with a total of 7 live shows. For now, fans can check out the album cover and tracklist below as they wait for the new record.
