On May 17, Kansas City, MO based performance art collective Quixotic will release their EP Goddess. Today, we’re excited to premiere the shimmering down-tempo electronica title track from that four song release (technically five if you count a bonus track). The elements of the song consist of vocals, strings, harps and earthy drums, making for a unique sound that is on full display with “Goddess.”
As mentioned, Quixiotic is not just a band in the traditional sense – instead, the musical component of the group takes influence from the movements of its aerialists, dancers and performing artists. It’s all very emotional music that works well on its own without the visual media. What sets the Goddess EP apart from previous releases by Quixotic is that every song on the album features vocals.
Quixotic Cirque Nouveau’s performances are a multi-sensory experience with music, dance, technology and even projection mapping. In 2012 they were invited to perform at the TED Conference The band consists of vocalist and harpist Calvin Arsenia, violinist, violist and keyboardist Shane Borth, viola and keyboards, percussionist and drummer Simon Huntley and trumpeter Lily Carassik. The rest of the Quixotic team consists of choreographers, costume designers, producers, technical assistance and of course, around a dozen performers. The group recently had a residency in Miami Beach at the Samsara Cabaret at Faena Theater.
