mxdwn PREMIERE: argonaut&wasp Blend Retro Instrumentals with a Modern Pop Sensibility on New Song “Composure”

Dance rock group argonaut&wasp recently signed with +1 Records and today we’re pleased to premiere their first single since the signing, a dynamic song titled “Composure.” The song begins with a gorgeous synth melody from Theo Klein that hearkens back to the most emotionally-moving moments of ’80s pop. Once the vocals enter the mix, it’s clear that this is a modern band, with Trey Schibli’s vocals certainly schooled by recent alt-pop radio stars like Foster the People or lovelytheband. The band is rounded out by its rhythm section of Alec Donkin (bass/synths) and Chris Corsico (drums).

Without the backing of the label, the band has racked up an impressive 11 million streams of their self-released singles. Now based in Brooklyn, NYC, the core members Klein and Schibli met while at University of Vermont in Burlington. For those that want to catch the band’s live performance, they have an upcoming show on May 22 at Rough Trade in New York City.
