The Afropunk music festival has announced the lineup for its upcoming Atlanta event, themed as the Carnival of Consciousness. Afropunk Atlanta, which will take place later this fall, is set to feature performances from FKW Twigs, Danny Brown and Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals. Alongside a host of other talented artists, these performers are sure to put on a great festival. The Afropunk music festivals are held in five cities across the globe this year, with the American editions of the festival being held in Brooklyn and Atlanta. The lineup for the Brooklyn festival was announced last month, also featuring a performance from Atlanta headliner FKA Twigs. The Atlanta festival will also feature the return of the Afropunk battle of the bands, which is open to any unsigned bands. Submissions to enter will be opened in September, with the winning band performing live at Afropunk Atlanta.

FKA Twigs is an electronic influenced R&B singer who released her debut album, LP1, back in 2014. Most known for her track “Two Weeks,” FKA Twigs also gained popularity for her feature on the track “Fukk Sleep” by A$AP Rocky last year. FKA Twigs combines together electronic music with soulful vocals in her music, creating a very unique sound. Spending much of her recent time performing at various music festivals, FKA Twigs is sure to put on a great show for her fans at Afropunk Atlanta.

Also performing at the festival is rapper Danny Brown. A popular artist among hip hop fans, Danny Brown has spent over a decade making music. His most recent album was 2016’s Atrocity Exhibition, which garnered critical praise upon its release. The album was supported with the powerful singles “Pneumonia” and “Really Doe,” with the later track featuring rappers Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt and Ab-Soul. In recent months, Danny Brown has been keeping everyone in suspense of his next album; something fans will hopefully be able hear by the time his performance comes around at Afropunk Atlanta.

Anderson Paak is one of the largest names set to perform at Afropunk Atlanta, and will be supported by the band The Free Nationals. Releasing two full length albums over the past few months, Paak is one of the most consistent rappers making music today. Paak’s third solo album, Oxnard, was released at the end of 2018; supported by production from the legendary Dr. Dre and an incredibly packed set of features. The album was thought of as some of Paak’s best so far, which is why fans were shocked to hear he would be releasing another full album just a short while later. That album, titled Ventura, was released just a couple of weeks ago. With two new albums under his belt, fans of Paak should be sure to catch his set at Afropunk this fall. The festival is going to be held from October 12-13, with tickets already on sale on Afropunk’s website.

UPDATE: Afropunk has announced more names for the upcoming Atlanta festival. One of the new names added to the lineup is Brittany Howard, singer for the group Alabama Shakes. Howard just recently announced her first ever solo tour and debut solo album. Also added is a collaborative performance from Moses Boyd and Dj Lag, which is sure to be an interesting show to see. Finally, a list of local DJs was added to fill out the rest of the Afropunk Atlanta festival.
