Austin-based instrumental post-rock quartet, Explosion In The Sky (original name: Breaker Morant) are celebrating their 20th year with a massive anniversary tour this fall. Kicking off the 20th-anniversary tour on May 9 in Shanghai, China, the tour then stops by Beijing in China, Tokyo and Osaka in Japan. After that, the post-rockers play coast to coast and border to border. Starting in Mesa, Arizona on September 11, the group make their way through Oakland, Salt Lake City, Denver, Raleigh, Buffalo, Detroit and other cities, concluding in Oklahoma City on October 24. According to Brooklyn Vegan, the tour hits two NYC-area: Queens’ Knockdown Center on October 13, and Sayreville, NJ’s Starland Ballroom on October 12.
Known for moody and cinematic compositions drawing from sonic sources, the quartet – drummer Chris Hrasky and guitarists Michael James, Munaf Rayani, and Mark Smith – provided a Fall tour and a Spring tour in 2017 in support of their luscious and beautifully layered album The Wilderness. Explosion In The Sky’s 20th-anniversary tour is the follow-up tour to be expected.
Tickets for newly announced dates go on sale starting Friday, April 19 at 10 AM local time, with presales beginning Tuesday, April 15 at 10 AM (password: EITS99)
