Geddy Lee Joins The Claypool Lennon Delirium for Cover of Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows”

Concert attendees to The Claypool Lennon Delirium show in Toronto were in for a treat when legendary bassist Geddy Lee joined the band on stage to cover The Beatles’ song “Tomorrow Never Knows.” Lee, from the band Rush, did a special cover performance with the band on April 10th at the Danforth Music Hall, according to The PRP. ‘

Fans caught footage of this special performance and spread it across platforms like YouTube. The Claypool Lennon Delirium is a psychedelic rock band that consists of vocalist and bassist Les Claypool of Primus and guitarists and vocalist Sean Lennon, son of late The Beatles legend John Lennon.

“Tomorrow Never Knows” is a song originally recorded and released off their 1966 album Revolver. The song was primarily written by John Lennon, however, because of their songwriting partnership, Paul McCartney is also credited. It’s known that this song was inspired by Lennon’s experiences with the hallucinogenic drug LSD and his readings from the book “The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead.”

Les Claypool later took to Instagram to acknowledge the special performance in Toronto. “As Geddy slinked out of the shadows with my Pachyderm bass in his mighty grips, the crowd slowly swelled to a frenzy of recognition. The energy and excitement was so palatable that it brought a joyful tear to my eye,” he said before continuing on. “Like Joe DiMaggio stepping back up to the plate, Geddy proceeded to show us all why he is one of the greatest to ever wield a four string piece of furniture. It was pure magic and I imagine I’ll feel the tingle on the back of my neck for some time.”
