Eric Avery of Jane’s Addiction Will Play T. Rex Covers with Josh Klinghoffer and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers

As part of this year’s Record Store Day, members and former members of two rock groups, Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) and Jane’s Addiction, will be collaborating to perform covers of T. Rex. Eric Avery, the former bassist and co-founding member of Jane’s Addiction, tweeted today that he will be playing alongside Josh Klinghoffer and drummer Chad Smith at Long Beach’s Fingerprints Music on April 13. According to the tweet, the trio are expected to begin around 4PM.

T. Rex were a psychedelic and glam rock band that were popular during the 1960s and 1970s in Britain. Originally from London, the foursome led by the late Marc Bolan released several number one hits in the UK like “Hot Love,” “Telegram Sam,” and “Metal Guru.” Their record Electric Warrior is touted to be one of the pioneer glam rock albums back in the day.

Last month, RHCP put on a performance like none other at one of the ancient wonders of the world, the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. During their set, Klinghoffer performed cover of Radiohead’s “Pyramid Song” that was befitting of the venue.
