The Los Angeles-based rock duo of sisters, Bleached, is coming back with a new single and accompanying video. The song, “Shitty Ballet,” is the first glimpse of new music from the band since the 2016 Welcome the Worms and the 2017 EP Can You Deal?.

“Shitty Ballet” demonstrates Jessica and Jennifer Calvin’s first studio work that relies heavily on acoustic guitars. In the moment of heartbreak, the song was written in just a few hours as the emotion of the demo stuck and turned into a hit for the duo. While recording they stayed true to the stripped-down original by starting off with minimal instrumentation and gradually bursting through with a full band. Giraffe Studios directed the accompanying one shot video that shows the Calvins amongst soft, violet-tinted light performing as ballet dancers.

“Bleached has always been a pretty loud rock band so we felt it was time to explore a more stripped down style of playing,” says Jennifer. “With the vulnerability of the lyrics we decided to carry that into the instruments as well for the first time recording with just an acoustic guitar and vocals.  Sonic change is important to us right now. More of that coming soon.”

Bleached is hitting the road this May in support of Refused. Lucky for those in Los Angeles, they schedules an intimate underplay on July 11 at the Moroccan Lounge.
