JOHNNYSWIM @ Brooklyn Steel 5/22

If you’ve been searching for music with passion, soul, and love rolled all into one, then look no further: husband-wife folk duo JOHNNYSWIM will take Brooklyn Steel by storm when they headline a show on Wednesday, May 22nd. Doors to the venue will open at 7:00pm, with the night of beautiful tunes beginning at 8:00pm. Tickets are $35 each for General Admission, and are available to those 16 years of age and older.

JOHNNYSWIM are master storytellers, weaving intricate tales through their heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies. They also have quite the history to match: over a decade ago in 2008, the duo released their first self-titled EP after dating personally for several years prior. Songbirds Amanda Sudano and Abner Ramirez continued crafting music after their marriage in 2009, using married life as one of many sources of inspiration for their work. Through the ups and downs of their relationship, as well as the struggles they’ve faced in their personal lives, JOHNNYSWIM creates music that can truly connect to the masses.

It’s been several years since the duo has released a full length record – 2016’s Georgica Pond was their latest – but has released three singles so far in 2019, including “Flowers,” “Bridges,” and “The Last Time,” which features Grammy award-winner Michael McDonald. With these new releases, JOHNNYSWIM is back with power and excitement like never before.

Melissa Aiello: Hi there, nice to meet you! My name is Melissa and I am a 24-year-old passionate lover of all things related to music and live entertainment. I've been singing since the second grade, and playing guitar for the past five years. I grew up in a fairly musical household, with my grandfather breaking out his accordion and starting sing-a-longs at every family gathering. It was here that I began falling in love with music and its power to change moods, emotions, and lives. My taste in music goes far and wide - you name it, I'll (probably) listen to it. My hundreds of Spotify playlists include everything from Biggie to ABBA to the Jonas Brothers (thank GOD they're back together) to Dolly Parton and everything in-between. I aim for my little corner of the internet to spread love and positivity for all this beautiful music, and give you the opportunity to see or hear artists you may otherwise have not heard of.
