It only takes the indie rock icon, Jeff Tweedy, six months to drop the companion album WARMER. This upcoming album is the follow-up of Tweedy’s original solo LP WARM which came out last November. The new album will release on April 13th via dBpm Records as a Record Store Day exclusive, with limited 5,000 copies of vinyl-only versions all over the world. Check out the full tracklist below.
Produced in the same studio at The Loft in Chicago, WARMER is a sister album of WARM – the full tracks were “recorded in the same burst, motivated by the same impetus, overflowing with the same consoling ethos,” explained by George Saunders who contributes the liner notes in WARM.
The leader of Wilco expresses his intention behind the work, “At some point I separated the songs from the WARM/WARMER session into two records with individual character, but still tried to keep the overall tone and texture of the combined session consistent,” he adds, “In a lot of ways these two records could have been released as a double LP. WARMER means as much to me as WARM and might just as easily have been released as the first record of the pair.”
“Family Ghost” is the leading single before the whole album’s arrival. The track reflects Tweedy’s confrontation about getting rid of the types of casual and systemic racism growing up in southern Illinois. Check out the music video below.
