A posthumous Avicii album is set to be released this summer. The album is titled TIM, named after the DJ’s real first name. TIM is slated for a June 6 release, with its first single “SOS,” set to be released April 10. According to CNN, the album will be comprised of songs Avicii had worked on prior to his death. His estate released a statement about the upcoming, stating “He left behind a collection of nearly finished songs, along with notes, email conversations and text messages about the music” They continued to say “The songwriters that Tim was collaborating with on this album have continued the process to get as close to his vision as possible.” All proceeds from the album will go to the Tim Bergling Foundation, named after the singer. The foundation will raise money for mental health and suicide prevention.
Bergling tragically passed away last year at the age of 28 in Muscat, Oman. The cause of his death was unknown, however, his family issued a statement shortly after his death implying the took his own life. He announced his retirement from touring in 2016 due to health complications. He wrote a letter to his fans, saying that “It really helped me realize that I needed to make the change that I’d been struggling with for a while.” In 2014, Bergling underwent surgery to have his appendix and gall bladder removed.
