Made In America Festival Announces 2019 Lineup Featuring Cardi B, James Blake and Jorja Smith

For its eighth year running, the Made in America Festival will be set to go on Saturday, August thirty-first to Sunday, September first of this year. Hip Hop greats and rap artists from Jorja Smith and Anderson .Paak, to James Blake, Cardi B, and Travis Scott will be present. The event will be live streamed on the global music and entertainment platform TIDAL.

The Made in America festival is curated by rap artist JAY-Z, produced by Roc Nation, and will be taking place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on labor day weekend. Made in America is known for its goal of bringing the Philadelphia community together, partnering with charities, and stimulating economic growth. The festival made its debut back in 2012 and has since impacted the Philadelphia economy positively with over 102.8 million dollars. This year, Made in America will be partnering with the ACLU of Pennsylvania and The Reform Alliance. A portion of the festival’s net proceeds will go to these charities.

In the past, Made in America has not disappointed fans. With artists like Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, and Kendrick Lamar, the festival boasts a history of diverse performances from top artists. Over time, the festival has become increasingly popular with rising ticket sales over the years. Though there has been discrepancies over where the festival would take place this year, the festival will be where it usually is, in the Benjamin Franklin Parkway

The main headliner for the event will be rapper Cardi B. The New York City artist will make her debut on the Made in America stage this year. Cardi B recently won “best rap album” at the GRAMMYs and was nominated in a number of other categories including “Record of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Best Rap Performance.” After her success at the GRAMMYs Cardi B released her single “Please Me”, featuring Bruno Mars. The video was released in early March and has over 123 million views.

Performing with Cardi B will be James Blake. The English singer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist has worked with a number of acclaimed artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Bon Iver, and Frank Ocean among others. His fourth album Assume Form was released back in late January and featured many pop artists including Travis Scott and André 3000. Most recently Blake announced that he will be performing at the Swedish music festival Way out West this coming august.

Additionally, English singer songwriter Jorja smith will be attending the Made in America Festival. Smith is probably most well known for her album Lost and Found. Earlier in her career, her Amy Winehouse-esque voice garnered the attention of Canadian rapper Drake. After being featured on his mixtape More Life she earned herself a spot as one of Bruno Mars’s openers for his 24k Magic Tour in 2017. The English singer gained prominence when she co-wrote and sang Kendrick Lamar’s song I Am on his soundtrack for the Marvel Film Black Panther.

The Made in America festival is going to have a great variety of artists and won’t be an event you want to miss. Find information on where to buy tickets here.
