Sky Ferreira Shares Dark New Ballad “Downhill Lullaby”

This week Sky Ferreira returns to music with her release of a new song, “Downhill Lullaby.” The critically-acclaimed artist has provided fans with a glimpse of what is to be expected from her upcoming 2019 album. Masochismwill be Ferreira’s first studio album in six years, following her 20133 debut album Night Time, My Time, which featured tracks like “Boys,” “I Blame Myself,” and “You’re Not the One.”

Ferreira’s latest release is a ballad that spans almost six whole minutes. It opens darkly, with subtle strings, before a drum beat and Ferreira’s vocals take over to produce an absorbing and almost psychedelic overall atmosphere. Since Night Time, My Time, the Los Angeles native has also been busy venturing into the film industry, appearing in a number of feature films like Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver, The Trust, Liza Johnson-directedElvis & Nixon, and 2018’s American Woman, amongst others. Ferreira has also worked with some British rock icons, appearing on Primal Scream’s 2016 album Chaosmosis, and The Jesus + Mary Chain’s 2017 record, Damage & Joy. Last year, Ferreira revealed some discrepancies between herself and her label, as she was forced was locked out of her personal Soundcloud account.
