Indie-rock pioneers Sebadoh have released a new track, entitled “stunned,” and an accompanying music video as their forthcoming studio album Act Surprised approaches their May 24th release date. The track comes as their second single to release, just as their leading single “celebrate the void” was made available earlier this month.
The trio consists of frontman and co-founder Lou Barlow, co-founder Jason Loewenstein and drummer Bob D’Amico who joined the band in 2011 before the release of their last studio album in 2011, Defend Yourself. The new track is full of guitar riffs and frustrations from Barlow about how the world won’t slow down at all. He sings, “Give me a shout when you get mellowed out/ I can’t get caught up in all this/ To the degree we believe what we see/ And what we’re doing is all done.”
The video that supports the track is of low-quality and a combination of random clips that coincides with the fast-paced overload expressed in the lyrics. “The incessant bombardment of the senses with media and advertising can lead to a kind of self-defensive paralysis,” Loewenstein said of the new track. “I am completely stunned at this point.”
