mxdwn PREMIERE: POW! Craft a Synthed-Out Psychedelic Soundscape on New Song “Here It Comes”

POW! are one of the latest additions to John Dwyer’s Castle Face Records, with an upcoming album called SHIFT set to release on May 10, 2019. Today we’re thrilled to premiere the second single from that album, a grinding post-punk take on psych-rock. Through the grit and the grime, there’s immensely catchy songwriting that understands its roots while simultaneously forward-thinking.

POW! is synth player Melissa Blue and guitarist Byron Blum with drumming from Cameron Allen. The band previously released the song “Disobey” from their new album, which follows Crack an Egg in 2017, Fight Fire in 2015 and Hi-Tech Boom in 2014 – those can all be listened to and purchased on their Bandcamp.

“I had the drumbeat in my head and punched it into a sequencer before I would forget it,” said Blum. “When we were in the studio, I wanted to do something with it and Tommy gave me the idea for lyrics. He would say ‘Ready? Here it comes’ probably every time before he would press the record button. I loved that so much and we made a ditty out of it. It’s about relaxing in space and feeling strength running through my body, ready to face the unknown and whatever is arising in the moment.”

1. “Connecting”
2. “Disobey”
3. “Dream Decay”
4. “Free The Floor”
5. “Here It Comes”
6. “Machine Animal”
7. “Metal & Glue”
