Tacocat has shared their exuberant new single “Hologram” ahead of the release of the group’s debut album This Mess Is a Place. The album will be released on LP/CD/Digital and Cassette on May 3. For the full album, pre-orders are available now.
On their new song, the Seattle-based band – vocalist Emily Nokes, bassist Bree McKenna, guitarist Eric Randall, and drummer Lelah Maupin – channels the message: “Hologram” is about hope and spreading energy, positivity and good vibes. “Just remember if you can, power is a hologram” sung by lead singer Emily Nokes.
Produced by Erik Blood, This Mess Is Place is the fourth full-length LP that marks their first album as Sub Pop. The whole album is the opposite of depression. It is a safe place for listeners to recharge their mental batteries. In this album, Tacocat is not indifferent about people’s struggles and the power of feminists, they even boldly critic the politic with own opinions.
The song delights the idea that the darkness of life is not the whole if we change our attitude towards them. As the inspiring lyrics in “Hologram,” “Just close your eyes and think about the Milky Way/Just remember if you can, power is a hologram,” reminds us to stretch the imagination and see the big picture of life. As Nokes states, “We can examine some hard stuff, make fun of some evil stuff, feel some soft feelings, feel some rage feelings, feel some bitter-ass feelings, sift through memories, feel wavy-existential, and still go get a banana daiquiri at the end”.
The indie-punk band spits their humor and delightful spirit in This Mess Is a Place. “Hologram” is no different. Tacocat provides a window for listeners to release their emotion by talking about sensibility and hope, most importantly they leave positive reflection to the world.
