Bad Religion Urges Us to “Do The Paranoid Style” in New Music Video

Bad Religion has released their neck-breaking new track “Do The Paranoid Style” along with its accompanying video. The video is under two minutes filled with vintage clips from cartoons and people dancing to rock music. It also includes clips of rocket launches, flying saucers, the first moon landing and Elvis Presley meeting Richard Nixon. The clip was directed/edited by Dan Fusselman.

Guitarist Brett Gurewitz made a statement about the song, stating “When fringe groups blame shadowy forces for their problems it is, at worst, delusional. But when those holding the levers of power do the same thing, it’s not delusion, it’s a method of delegitimizing the opposition. It’s a tool of authoritarianism.”The song was heavily inspired by historian Richard Hofstadter’s 1964 essay “The Paranoid Style in American Politics” and follows the lead single “Chaos From Within.”

The track will also be featured on the band’s 17th  studio album, Age Of Unreason, set for release on May 3rd. Gurewitz released a statement about the album, stating  “Today, these values of truth, freedom, equality, and tolerance are in real danger. This record is our response.” The album is the band’s first release of new music in six years, with their last effort being their 2013 effort True North.
