Oh Land, the stage name of Danish composer Nanna Øland Fabricius has shared the third single off her upcoming new album Family Tree. The song entitled “Kiss In Songs,” features backing vocals by Devendra Banhart can be streamed by scrolling down below.
”Kiss In Songs” is an airy melancholy tune that lifts the listener up and refuses to let go. It is a beautiful, quiet song that makes one feel like they are falling in love all over again.
In a statement regarding the latest single, Oh Land states; “I guess the whole reason I do music is that I express myself more clearly through melodies and singing, rather than through speaking. In this song I find someone who understands my language.
Family Tree is the singer’s fifth studio album and is produced by Thomas Bartlett who is behind such artists as St. Vincent, Florence & The Machine and The National. Her previously released single, Human Error, can be steamed here. The new album will be available to purchase and stream on May 3rd.
Oh Land states that “since the release of my latest album, I’ve experienced the biggest ups and downs of my private life,” she explains. “I had a baby, moved back to Denmark after living in NYC for ten years, and got a divorce — all in the span of 18 months. The process of writing and recording the album proved therapeutic for Nanna. “I never planned to make this album,” she notes, “but in these melodies and music I’ve found some healing… As I have often found it, music is the best listener when you pour your heart out.”
Before releasing her new album, Oh land will perform an intimate show in New York on April 25th at the Le Poisson rouge. The night is entitled “An Evening With Oh Land” and will surely be a night to remember. After the performance, she will cross seas to promote Family Tree beginning May 8th in the UK. The rest of the small shows will be set in Germany, Denmark as well as Belgium.
