Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and singer/songwriter and Grammy Award-winning producer Shooter Jennings have teamed up together and announced they’re going on tour together. Jennings will be joining as support for McKagan’s North American Tour, promoting McKagan’s upcoming solo album Tenderness.
Jennings and his band will be serving as directing support and McKagan’s back band while on tour. The tour kicks off on May 30th in Philadelphia, PA at the Theatre of the Living Arts, hitting stops like New York City at Irving Plaza and San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall. The tour will come to a stop in Seattle at The Showbox venue. Prior to the tour, McKagan and Jennings are expected to deliver a special performance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on April 4th.
McKagan and Jennings began recording Tenderness about a year ago this month, working in and out of the Station House studios in Echo Park, CA. Jennings, who also serves as the producer for the album, has his band featured all throughout the album – Aubrey Richmond on fiddle and vocals, John Schreffler on guitar, pedal stool and vocals, along with Jamie Douglass on the drums.
McKagan has definitely kept himself busy with the highly-anticipated release of his solo project, Tenderness, out on May 31st. As the days leading up to its release, he has also released two tracks from the album, the album title track and a new one entitled “Chip Away.” McKagan described the new track as “somewhat of a rail against cable news and divisive agendas…all for the almighty dollar,” before continuing on in more detail. “The song also highlights the fact that history repeats itself over and over, and that we will all get past this, together.”
Jennings has also been making some leaps in the music industry, finding himself collaborating with other musicians before McKagan. Jennings teamed up with Low Country Sound founder Dave Cobb to co-produce Brandi Carlile’s critically acclaimed sixth studio album, By The Way, I Forgive You. This is where Jennings received his first Grammy Award for Best Americana Album on his work with the project.
Jennings also released his own eighth studio album Shooter through Low Country Sound/Elektra Records on August 10, 2018. It was produced by Cobb himself at the RCA Studio A in Nashville’s Music Row.
