In February, Red Bull Music Festival hosted a music event themed around video game Red Dead Redemption 2. The event featured an orchestral performance of the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack, accompanied by a visual experience. The soundtrack’s original composer Woody Jackson, led the the ensemble through the hour long performance. Red Bull Music has now uploaded the full performance to their Youtube channel, letting fans who missed the opportunity to see it live get a chance to hear the show. A few of the featured artists from the ensemble included vocalist Petra Hayden and Indonesian duo Senyawa.
The recent Red Bull Music Festival, which took place in February of this year in Los Angeles, featured a wide range of acts throughout the month. Prior to the Red Dead Redemption 2 performances at the end of the month, Hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd hosted a Valentine’s Day themed event on February 14. Another major performer at the festival was pop singer Robyn, who began her North American tour at the Red Bull Music Festival.
The plot of Red Dead Redemption is mainly centered around the idea of an escape into the wild west. In order to match the themes and visuals present due to this, Jackson composed a beautiful soundtrack meant to inspire the vast landscapes of the open American southwest. The various tracks across the performance display a wide range of moods and emotions, completely enthralling listeners. One of the highlights of the performance was saxophonist Colin Stetson, whose solo completely stole the show. The ensemble performed 14 songs in total, with Stetson’s solo being number 9. Fans of the soundtrack will be happy to hear that a full Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack album will be released later this spring. The full performance from the Red Bull Music Festival can be found below.
