Singer and songwriter Rosanne Cash is taking on her father’s music catalogue alongside artist and guitarist Ry Cooder for a string of special shows celebrating the man in black. The special tribute will see Cash and Cooder perform in five cities across the U.S in landmark venues later this year. The two won’t be alone on stage, joining them be a remarkable band that will include guitarist and musical director John Leventhal, pianist Glenn Patscha, bassist Mark Fain, and drummer Joachim Cooder.
The limited run of shows will take place starting on June 16th in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium and will continue on in Chicago on June 18th. The rest of the shows will be on October 30th in Boston concluding on November 2nd in New York at Carnegie Hall and November 3rd in Philadelphia at the Metropolitan Opera House.
Rosanne Cash has released 15 studio albums which garnered her four Grammy wins as well as 11 nominations. She has recieved the SAG/AFTRA Lifetime Achievement award for Sound Recordings back in 2012 and received the 2014 Smithsonian Ingenuity Award in the Performing Arts. Her latest album, She Remembers Everything, was released late last year in November of 2018. It followed Cash’s 2014 album, The River & The Thread which went on to win at the Grammys. She is about to head out on a 23-show run across North America as well as shows across the pond. The tour will include a sold out show at the SF Jazz Center in San Francisco where she will perform with Cooder.
Ry Cooder has recieved six Grammy Awards including Best World Music Album and Best Pop Instrumental album. His music discography includes 20 classic albums and has performed with many A-List acts on their albums including The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Nancy Sinatra, Kim Carnes, Randy Newman, John Hiatt, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, The Beach Boys, and Mavis Staples. His latest record, The Prodigal Son, was released back in May of 2018.
