Soulja Boy Cancels SXSW Performance After Being Arrested For Probation Violation

Soulja Boy, the iconic hip-hop artist known for songs “Crank That” and “Kiss Me Through the Phone” has to step back from his SXSW festival performance. He was forced to cancel his SXSW performance in Austin, Texas this Saturday due to violating his probation. The festival includes artists like DJ Carnage and Lil Mosey. Fans are disappointed that Soulja Boy will no longer be performing at SXSW festival and the story has had a lot of circulation on social media.

Once Soulja Boy was released from jail he went straight to Instagram live to announce that he would still perform tonight at the Clippers game even with his jail I.D wristbands still on. In his two minute video, he states that “he had the biggest come back in 2019” and “they try to hate on me”. At the end of the video, he says that he is the hottest rapper out and that he is angry about the cops taking his chains. In Instagram live, he seemed pretty confident about his ability to still make his Clipper game performance and that his probation wouldn’t stop him from performing.

The rapper has been on probation around eight years now after he was first convicted for weapon violations. His probation sentence was extended in 2016 for another weapon violation. In 2016, the rapper made threats online causing the police searched his home. After searching his home they found one weapon which violated his probation terms. The judge extended his probation making it clear that he was no longer allowed to have any weapons at all. TMZ mentioned that the cops acquired a search warrant for the rapper’s home after a woman accused him of keeping her hostage in his garage. The rapper has denied these allegations, but the cops still found ammunition in his home which broke his probation rules yet again. Soulja Boy has been scheduled for a hearing on March 29th to face his probation violations. Due to his abrupt arrest and his probation violation Soulja Boy will not be scheduled to perform at SXSW on Saturday, March 16th.
