Choreographed Dance Scene From Oscar-Nominated Film Vice Left on the Cutting Room Floor Features Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes

Vice, Adam McKay’s biopic about Dick Cheney, surprisingly included a musical number, which was left on the cutting room floor, according to Vice, Luckily, ahead of its April 2 DVD release, Rolling Stone released the video, and it’s absolutely as peculiar as you would expect.

The scene features Christian Bale as Cheney and Steve Carrell as Donald Rumsfeld walking through a lunchroom, when suddenly it spirals into a musical number and choreographed dance featuring Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes. View the clip as published by Rolling Stone here.

“It’s breathtaking. It’s incredible. And it just didn’t work,” McKay told Variety in December. “We tried 15 versions of it. We moved it here, we moved it there. We played it really short. We played it way longer and put scenes in the middle of it. We tried every single thing you could do. The only reason it doesn’t pain me at this moment is because I know we tried everything we could do.”
