The Fisherman’s Village Festival will be coming back to Everett, Washington for its sixth year and will continue to promote themselves as a community festival, from incorporating a lot of local artists in the lineup to having local businesses to host the meals. The lineup spans across different genre and the three-day event will take place from May 16th to May 18th.
The outdoor event will be hosting its biggest year yet with over 50 artists this year, such as introducing Wolf Parade, Travis Thompson, The Coathangers and Laura Veirs as the headliners for the event. Other bands like Pickwick, Death Valley Girls, Sloucher, Fretland, Super Sparkle, Steel Beans and Shoecraft will be sharing that same space.
The indie rock band Wolf Parade have been out of the music spotlight for a little over a year now, releasing their fourth, full-length studio album Cry Cry Cry back in 2017. For the most part, the album played it safe and they recorded material that was expected from an indie-rock album; however, there was a different sound played in the first track that was followed throughout the entire album. Will the band have new music to promote by this summertime festival? Fans can only hope.
The all-woman garage punk band The Coathangers shared a new music video and promotional essay to go along with it, both entitled “F The NRA.” The music video and essay promote a critical viewpoint on the National Rifle Association (NRA), with Kathleen Hanna and Brendan Canty writing the essay and the video showing incidents of gun violence with statistics to back up gun-related deaths. The band mentioned in their essay, “ We are not against guns or gun ownership, however, we strongly believe that this country is in need of gun control regulation including stricter waiting periods, expanded background checks, and more stringent laws for purchasing ammunition.” Let’s see if the band brings this same energy onto the stage.
Early bird admission tickets start off at $69 for a three-day, weekend pass, and they don’t anticipate raising that price anytime soon. Tickets are already on sale and you can purchase them by visiting their website.
