The Roots Announce 2019 Roots Picnic Lineup Featuring The Roots Playing Things Fall Apart, Raphael Saadiq and Black Thought and J.Period Live Mixtape Featuring Yasiin Bey

The Roots have announced their Roots Picnic Festival in time for summer. The one-day festival will take place Saturday, June 1 at the Mann Center at Fairmont Park in Philadelphia, PA. Grammy Award winner H.E.R., a jam session between Questlove and Raphael Saadiq titled Soulquarian vs Raphael Saadiq Jam, Ari Lennox, Moonchild, Tank, and the Bangas, and Ari Lennox are included on the bill. An exclusive festival performance titled Black Thought’s “Live Mixtape” that features Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def will also take the stage and there will also be a Podcast Stage, featuring The Joe Budden Podcast, The Read Podcast, and Questlove Supreme Podcast. 2019 marks the 12th year for the festival, with past performers including The Weeknd, Pharrell, Snoop Dogg, Phantogram, Usher, Nas, A$AP Rocky, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Future, Vampire Weekend, The War On Drugs, Gary Clark, Jr. and Solange. This year also marks the first time the festival being held at the Mann Center grounds after it previously being held at Penns Landing.  In conjunction with the festival, The Roots are also celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album Things Fall Apart and will perform the album in its entirety at the festival.
