Sage Francis and B. Dolan Form New Group Epic Beard Men and Announces New Album This Was Supposed to be Fun for March 2019 Release

The new duo Epic Beard Men, comprised of inde-rap legends Sage Francis and B. Dolan, are dropping a new-full-length album titled This Was Supposed to Be Fun. The album blends the classic sounds of breakbeats and timeless drum machines with soul grooves and sub bass. Listeners will be struck with guitars, violins, and a brass band among the creative lyrics of two of the underground’s finest. This Was Supposed to Be Fun is set to drop on all streaming services on March 29 and in stores on May 17.

The first single on the album is “Hedges,” Sage and B go back and forth on the chorus, almost as if they are shouting across perfectly trimmed lawns. The song tells a haunting character study in suburban alienation and the collapse of the psychic bonds that uses to constitute the great American neighborhood. “Pistol Dave” includes features of artists like Slug of Atmosphere, Blue Raspberry, Eligh of Living Legends, Eugene Blakrok, Vockah Redu and Kathleen Stubelek of Circle Takes the Square. The song “Man Overboard” acts as the album’s ironic thesis statement, showing hints of a metaphor of America itself.

Epic Beard Men is a recent formation that fans are thrilled about. Sage Francis started rapping when he was eight . His successes include three albums with punk fortress Epitaph and collaborations with artists such as Will Oldham, Buck 65 and Bad Religion. He launched his own prolific label, Strange Famous, represented his return to the world of producing for himself. His last solo LP was in 2014 called Copper Gone, which marked his fifth full album. B. Dolan decided at age 12 that he would be a writer and a rapper after hearing Scarface’s “The Diary.” His first release was the critical acclaimed Called House, Sunken City in 2010 with  rapper Alias. BY 2012 he started headlining tours with CHURCH OF LOVE & RUIN. Epic Beard Men was first incepted in 2016, when B and Sage were travel partners in roommates for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Now, the duo are to embark on tour throughout the United States in April.
