Omara Portuondo of Buena Vista Social Club Announces Final Shows with Spring 2019 Tour Dates

Legendary Cuban singer Omara Portuondo has announced the dates for her final North American performances. Portuondo’s tour, which is appropriately titled her “Last Kiss” world tour, will see her saying her goodbyes to large live performances after a career of bringing beautiful Cuban music to people worldwide. Owing much of her global fame to her work as a part of the Buena Vista Social Club in the 1990s, Portuondo has been performing since the 1950s.

Growing up in Cuba in the most turbulent part of its history, Portuondo managed to use her experiences and the experiences of her fellow Cuban to make some of the most touching music in the island’s history. Since joining her talents with the various other Cuban Artists featured on the Buena Vista Social Club ensemble, Portuondo has continued to make music inspired by her people and their rich culture. Portuondo is one of the only members of the Buena Vista Social Club still releasing music, as her album Omara Siempre debuted just last year.

Now it is time for the singer to hang up her hat, beginning her final North American tour dates this upcoming April. The tour will see Portuondo perform at some of the biggest cities in the United States, before finishing up the North American leg in Canada. The shows include performances at Los Angeles’ Regent Theater and New York’s Sony Hall. Fans of Portuondo or simply Latin music in general should be sure to try to catch a show near them.
