Legendary bands L7 and Bush performed sets recently at an event put on for the upcoming Captain Marvel movie. On March 4th, the bands performed at a press event put on by Marvel to promote the next movie to be released in the ever- growing Marvel cinematic universe. The event featured performances by both bands, along with a Q&A from few of the actors from the film. This included the film’s star Brie Larson and long time Marvel veteran Samuel L. Jackson, along with a few other actors from the film. Both the performances and the Q&A session were livestreamed by Marvel to fans worldwide.
L7 is one of the most prominent all-female punk bands, first emerging onto the music scene in the 1980s. The group then began releasing music, gaining massive popularity in 1992 with the hit song “Pretend We’re Dead.” A track from the group’s third album, Bricks Are Heavy, the song helped establish L7 as one of the more powerful punk groups of the time. The band broke up in 2001, seemingly done for good, but reformed in 2014 in order to continue making new music. The band’s first new album in 20 years, Scatter The Rats, was originally supposed to be released at the end of February, but recently was pushed back to May 3rd. At the Marvel event, the group performed the most recent single from the album, “Burn Baby,” along with a few of their other hits from over the years.
Bush is one of the most well-known British rock bands in America, taking over the scene in the 1990s with songs such as “Glycerine” and “Machinehead.” Since then, group has continued releasing their own brand of music and performing worldwide. At the recent press event, the group performed many of their most famous tracks, including both of the previously mentioned songs. Bush also surprised fans by doing a cover of the Beatles’ “Come Together.” Overall the event was a complete success for both fans of the bands performing and the Marvel film series, and footage from the performances can be found throughout the article.
