The National has announced their brand new album I Am Easy To Find is set for release on May 17 via 4AD. The new album follows their 2017 GRAMMY-award winning, high fidelity ranked album Sleep Well Beast. It contains 16 brand new tracks and collaborations with Sharon Van Etten, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Lisa Hannigan, Mina Tindle and more. Along with the album release, a 24-minute short film with the same name as the new album will also be released, with music from the band and the album serving as the films inspiration. The film stars Academy Award winner Alicia Vakander from the critically acclaimed film Ex-Machina and also played the title role of Lara Croft in the 2018 remake of Tomb Raider. The short film was directed by Academy Award-nominated director Mike Mills, who is best known for his work on indie films Thumbsucker, Beginners, and 20th Century Women.
They have also released a song from the new album titled “You Had Your Soul With You, ” featuring vocals from David Bowie collaborator Gail Ann Dorsey. The song has been described as “so National.” Check out the new tune below.
Prior to the album announcement, the band had announced some intimate evening shows in Paris, London, New York, Toronto, and Los Angeles, all of which have sold out. Now they are heading out on world tour with support from Courtney Barnett and Alvvays in select cities. Tickets for the newly announced dates will go on sale Friday, March 8 at 10 am local time.
