Rockstar Game’s Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts one of the best game soundtracks, having won Best Music at The Game Awards in 2018. This week, Rockstar announced that the action-adventure game’s soundtrack will soon be released this upcoming Spring. The award-winning soundtrack features notables like Grammy-winner Rhiannon Giddens, D’Angelo, and Josh Homme.
The game’s soundtrack was composed Vox Studio’s Woody Jackson, who was also behind the soundtracks of the first installment of Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto V. According to Pop Culture Media’s ComicBook.com, singer and producer D’Angelo and country music’s Willie Nelson were also part of the production process.
Thus far, music and gaming fans alike have been treated to some of the soundtrack’s releases, like “Unshaken” by D’Angelo and Josh Homme’s “Cruel Cruel World.” At this year’s The Game Awards in Los Angeles, California, Rhiannon Giddens and Daniel Lanois treated attendees to live performance of “Unshaken.”
Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the biggest games to hit the market over the past few years, having made a whopping $725 million in worldwide sales within its first three days. The soundtrack is fitting of the game’s critical-acclaim, immersing fans in the sounds of the unruly West of the past. While a release for Spring is imminent, Rockstar has yet to announce the official date of the soundtrack and score’s release.
