La Fille is preparing for the release of their new album Alright Already on March 15. Today, we’re excited to premiere a new song from that album, a well-honed nugget of guitar pop called “Everyday Feels Like I’m Getting Older.” With its semi-clean electric guitars strummed at a mid-tempo pace and anthemic verses that beg to be sung along with, it recalls many of its Seattle indie rock predecessors,
La Fille is the project of Jay Louis, who began in New Jersey but headed west for Seattle after self-releasing the band’s first two EPs. There he met drummer Joe Oakes, who wanted to start a more punk-leaning band, but was convinced to pursue Le Fille with Louis. Rounding out the touring lineup for the band is bassist Tom Moskal on bass and lead guitarist Jackson Fahey. Alright Already was recorded with Michael Benjamin Lerner of likeminded Pacific Northwest band Telekinesis.
“I wrote ‘Everyday Feels Like I’m Getting Older’ about a year after moving to Seattle,” said Louis. “This song reflects on past anxieties and realizations that came at a turning point in my life. It’s a recognition of my new perspective and how I want to move forward and stop wasting time.”
