Ioanna Gika has announced that her new album Thalassa, is set for release April 5th through Sargent Records. This album will be Gika’s solo debut, with the album title being inspired from her Greek background. It features ten new songs nd are all self-produced by Ginka.Along with the album announcement, she also released a song off of the album called “Out of Focus” along with its accompanying video. The new video features surfer Jake Caster, cutting waves in an indoor wave barrel as Gika performs the song next to him. See the visual below.
Ginka discusses the new album in a press release, stating “Thalassa is about going through change that is unwanted yet unstoppable. It is a document of the dread, the adrenaline, and the surrender in the moments when you realize the only way to survive is to brace yourself and go through.” Check out the artwork and tracklist below. Gika is also gearing up to hit the road with Garbage on select dates of the band’s tour. See the list of dates Gika will be playing below.
Gika is also a member of the band IO Echo and since the solo album announcement, there has been speculation of where the status of the group lies.Her rep has stated to mxdwn that “Her focus is on the solo music for the moment.”
