Social Distortion Plans To Release First New Album In 11 Years

Lead singer of punk rock band Social Distortion, Mike Ness, just signed a deal with Concord Music Publishing that covers his solo work in addition to a new album by the band. A report by Billboard confirms that Social Distortion’s coming album will be released through Epitaph Records in 2019.

Ness added in an article, “I’m really looking forward to working with Concord Music Publishing. I know this change will come with new challenges, and I’m stoked by everything that lies ahead.”

The southern California band formed in 1978 with inspiration from the Los Angeles punk scene. Ness formed the group with drummer Casey Royer and brothers Frank and Rikk Agnew, the bassist and guitarist. After the release of Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell the group took an extended break before returning in 1996 with White Light, White Heat, White Trash which ended up being a moderate hit on MTV and modern rock radio. Their latest album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes, was produced by Ness himself in 2011. The new album will be the eighth for the group.

After a 2018 summer and fall tour, fans all over the country had the opportunity to see Social Distortion and their punk, California sound. One electric performance occurred at the Sea.Here.Now festival in Asbury park where guest Bruce Springsteen took the stage with the band.

After a long eight years, fans will be excited for the arrival of new music by the talented Ness.
