The Rapture Lead Singer Indicates Band Not Only Has Tour Plans But Could Release New Album

In a recent interview with Consequence of Sound, lead singer of The Rapture, Luke Jenner, hinted at the potential release of a new album. Fans of the dance-punk group might be in luck based on some of the implications from Jenner.

The band broke up in 2014 for various reasons, one of the biggest being Jenner’s quest to find balance between family time and a career in music. Now that he has had time to grow he is in a better place, which led to talks of a reunion. After ceasing conversation for quite some time, the band is now set to play two reunion shows. The first one is in Brooklyn, NY on April 30 and the other at the Just Like Heaven festival in Long Beach, CA on May 4. However, Jenner was quick to point out that these shows do not mean that everything is back to normal and shows will be regular. He emphasized that the band is operating in a much different space. Since becoming a father, he’s interest is not in becoming hugely popular, but rather helping others achieve their dreams.

As far as new music goes, Jenner mentioned that the band has not actually started writing anything, but they are “certainly open” to the idea of it in addition to going beyond these two reunion shows. Jenner said, “I would like to do this indefinitely and make new music.” Based on this statement, listeners can be assured his head is in the right place and he is still passionate about creating new music.

Jenner also mentioned that he has been meaning to talk more with his friends over at DFA, the label that released The Rapture’s last album In the Grace of Your Love in 2011. He said that if the band were to release a new album, he would do so through DFA as they “owe” the label one more release. If Jenner feels the band is indebted to his colleagues, it seems promising he will record a new album.
