In her first U.S. appearance in over 30 years, British pop and new wave icon, Kim Wilde, will be gracing the shores of Huntington State Beach, in Orange County in Southern California. On May 11, Wilde will be taking us back to the 80’s at the fourth edition of the Like Totally Festival, an all-age family friendly festival dedicated to music of the 1980’s.
Wilde’s only past show in the United States was when she performed at The Palace in Los Angeles in 1987. For her second, upcoming appearance in America, she will be joined by other 80’s talents in a line-up that includes English Pop group ABC, American rocker Greg Kihn, new wave rock band The Romantics, and John Lydon of the Sex Pistols’ latest band, Public Image LTD.
The 1980’s saw Wilde dominate music charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States with his like “Chequered Love,” “Never Trust a Stranger,” and her massive debut single “Kids in America,” which rose to number two on the U.K. charts. Wilde also enjoyed international success in 1987 when her version of the Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” topped the Billboard Hot 100. Wilde was undoubtedly a music icon of the 80’s, being the most charted British female solo act of the decade.
