The Melvins gave trolley riders a treat. The band hopped on a trolley to participate in the A Red Trolley Series, performing an acoustic version of their song “Edgar The Elephant.” Check out the performance below. The band most recently performed at the I Am The Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell at The Forum in Los Angeles, CA, performing some of their own hits and a cover of Cornell’s “Spoonman.” They just wrapped up their west coast tour in support of their 2018 effort Pinkus Abortion Technician.
Member Buzz Osbourne also announced a new collaborative project under the band name Bluewhale. The project is a split 7″ vinyl with one side of featuring a song called “Suicide” from Bluewhale and the other side having a song titled “Mercury Vapor” from Void Manes with Kevin Rutmanis, the ex-Melvins bassist. It will also come with a 58-page book of paintings by Mow Skwoz and photos by New Juche. This will mark their first collaboration since being in Melvins together back in 2005. Rutmanis left the band due to what was called “unpredictability,” which was recognized from a few tour date cancellations in 2004 and their fallout.
The group also took part in the Pink Floyd tribute album, covering their song “In The Flesh.” The tribute album also included covers from Greenleaf, Ruby The Hatchet, Mars Red Sky, Pallbearer, and Yawning Man. Along with Pink Floyd, they also released a cover of Black Sabbath’s classic Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, with Alvin Cisneros of Sleep, which was included on their collaborative EP, Sabbath.
