Life of Agony Continues River Runs Red Narrative On Their Upcoming New Album

Life Of Agony‘s forthcoming studio album will focus on “Rivers Runs Red“ the story of a teenager who survived a difficult childhood then slit his wrists in the bathroom. The record is set to arrive on Napalm in the fall.

Life of Agony emerged from the New York music scene in the early ’90s with one of the most distinctive sounds in its genre. Best known for its 1993 metal debut “River Runs Red” (Roadrunner Records), named by Rolling Stone as being one of the “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time” the band instantly built a die-hard, cult following.

Since the 90’s, the group has toured relentlessly with bands, including Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Foo Fighters, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Life of Agony released two more studio albums for Roadrunner: “Ugly” (’95) and “Soul Searching Sun” (’97), before signing to major label Sony/Epic Records in 2005 to record “Broken Valley” with producer Greg Fidelman (Slipknot, Metallica). Life of Agony has sold over one million albums to date.

When Life of Agony first formed the band perfected their angst filled, heavy, hardcore metal cutting through at times. The album, “River Runs Red” was similar to their stage show at the time, straight up energy and aggression in a hardcore, thrash format, with shards of heavy metal cutting through at times, and the group toured extensively upon its release.

Last year, Life of Agony released its 5th studio album, titled “A Place Where There’s No More Pain”. Rolling Stone hailed it as “One of the Most Anticipated Albums of the Year.” The album was produced by Matt Brown & Life of Agony and mastered by Ted Jensen (Alice in Chains, Machine Head, Deftones).

The bassist Alan Robert shared his enthusiasm on touring last year, “You really can’t beat the crazy energy of a packed, sweaty, tiny club, like we used to play back in the day, so we decided to include some very intimate rooms on this tour, along with the bigger venues, to feel that deep emotional connection again with our die-hard fans.”

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
