Florence and the Machine have been busy as they embark on their sold-out Australian/New Zealand leg of the band’s High As Hope tour. During a recent performance in Sydney, singer Florence Welch invited the band’s opener Marlon Williams on stage. The two dived into a duet of Williams’ song, “Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore.”
To a crowd of cheering fans, Welch, in a flowy and beautiful dress, introduced Williams. “I would like to welcome a very special guest to the stage. We’ve had the pleasure of outing with him and his amazing band this whole tour and we love them. Welch chuckle a bit, expressing, “I’m scared. Are you?” Williams agrees but through their fear, the two begins the song.
Williams is an award winning singer songwriter from New Zealand. His sophomore album, Make Way For Love features the song, “Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore,” which was originally sung as a duet with Williams’s ex-girlfriend Aldous Harding. He has been currently been supporting Florence and the Machine during their recent our and has also been seen in the Academy award-nominated film, A Star Is Born. In the film, he plays himself leading the Roy Orbison’s tribute alongside the aging rocker Jackson Maine played by Bradley Cooper.
Along with the sold out tour, Welch and her band are set to headline Governor’s Ball music festival in New York this May. Their highly anticipated fourth studio album, High As Hope, was on a string of best albums of the year on many lists including Rolling Stone, Refinery 9, Billboard and New York Post.
