Billy Bragg Announces “One Step Forward Two Steps Back” US Tour Dates

Billy Bragg has announced his upcoming 2019 U.S tour dates starting in February and the dates are already beginning to sell out. The tour is entitled “One Step Forward. Two Steps Back,” is not like most tours. Unlike ones that see an artist perform one night and then move on, Bragg will stay and do three unique performances, extending the music experience for his fans.

Each night, Bragg will perform three unique sets. The first will have Bragg perform his usual set which features him performing songs from his 35-year career. The second performance, fans will hear songs from Bragg’s first three albums; Life’s A Riot With Spy Vs Spy (1983), Brewing Up With Billy Bragg (1984) and Talking With The Taxman About Poetry (1986.) The third set will have Bragg perform his second three albums including Workers Playtime (1988), Don’t Try This At Home (1991) and William Bloke (1996.)

Bragg commented on his unique tour by saying, “After 35 years of traveling around America in a van or spending day after day flying vast distances to play a gig, I’m looking forward to having some time to explore cities that I usually only get to see between the soundcheck and the show. And this three-night stand format is a way of keeping things interesting, both for me and the audience. I tried it out in Toronto last year and had a lot of fun revisiting my back pages.”

The tour will see Bragg performing in 7 cities across North America. Before setting off on his tour, Bragg will perform at the 2019 Cayamo Cruise. He will then continue on in cities such as Los Angeles, Tacoma, Minneapolis, Chicago, Alexandria, New York before wrapping up in Boston on October 5th. Tickets are available but for those fans who wish to attend, should hurry. There are only a limited amount of tickets still remain for the rest of the tour. Scroll down for the full itinerary.
