Lizzo Pays Homage to Classic Television Formats in A New Retro Music Video “Juice”

Lizzo has blessed 2019 with feel-good track “Juice” along with its accompanying music video. The nostalgia-filled video showcases the singer and rapper in many retro looks while paying homage to classic television formats including an infomercial, a network variety talk show, and a VHS exercise tape. SPIN reports that the video was directed by Quinn Wilson, who has worked with Lizzo on her videos for “Fitness,” and “Water Me,” both also feel-good songs. Check out the funky new song and video below.

Lizzo’s last collective body of work was her 2016 EP Coconut Oil.  She was recently announced to play Coachella this year alongside Childish Gambino, Tame Impala, Ariana Grande, Solange, Aphex Twin and many more. Just this past year, she opened for sister-trio HAIM, performing in sold-out venues across the U.S. which featured special cover of the classic 90’s jam “The Boy Is Mine,” originally performed by Brandy and Monica at the Seattle tour stop. Lizzo also opened on select dates on Florence and The Machine’s “High As Hope” Tour.

Before going solo, she helped for a three-piece rap/R&B group named The Chalice. The group released their debut album in 2012 and achieved local success in Lizzo’s hometown of Houston, Texas. She then released her first solo record, Lizzobangers in 2013, which was produced by Ryan Olson and Lazerbeak.

She is also a supporter of the LGBT community. This past year,  she wore the first plus-size outfit made for the Fashion Institue of Technologies Future of Fashion runway show by Grace Insogna at an LGBTQ event at Pride Island.
