Thursday and Walter Schreifels Cover Buzzcocks’ “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve)”

Influential post-hardcore band Thursday teamed up with Walter Schreifels of Quicksand and Gorilla Biscuits (now known as Dead Heavens) fame to perform the Buzzcocks classic “Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve).” This took place during one of the band’s four night stops in Booklyn at the Williamsburg Music Hall, on December 28.

“Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve),” has a long history with the band, it was originally covered by them as part of the 2005 videogame Tony Hawk American Wasteland’s soundtrack. The group even performed this song with the late Pete Shelley, one of the founding members of the Buzzcocks back in 2006, during a performance at the Vans Warped Tour. Shelley passed away last December due to suspected heart attack at the age of 63.

Thursday are currently in the midst of 20th anniversary tour to honor 2001’s Full Collapse and 2003’s War All the Time. Both of these albums were commercially successful, both landing on the Billboard 200 charts, becoming one of the first post-hardcore groups to do so. Both of the albums are being played in full during their stops for the tour.

During 2011, the band was on infinite hiatus with their frontman Geoff Rickly confirming that the group had disbanded in 2013. In 2016 the band reunited, and began touring for two years selling out shows across the United States.

“It’s our honor to announce that we’ll be ending our 20th Anniversary by taking Full Collapse and War All the Time on the road, for a very limited US tour, in early 2019,”the band said in a press statement.”When we reunited the band, two years ago, we had no idea that it would carry us through our 20th year or that we’d be selling out every show that we play in 2018.”

This current tour is expected to be their last however, as it is expected to wrap up this winter. Their last performance will also take place in Brooklyn, at the Saint Vitus bar and venue on March 17th.

“This time, we get to put down touring on the very highest of notes: in each other’s lives and able to pick up and play together behind closed doors whenever we want” the statement continues.” If we are ever able to do Thursday again, it will be a new, separate chapter. Thank you all for your time, attention and friendship.”
